New Owners take over The Window Man
Right before the blizzard of 1978, Keith and Diane Derryberry started a new business names The Window Man of Lancaster. "We wante to bring insulated, custom made vinyl windows to our community because there seemed to be a need for them," said Keith. This need for quality products and service has only increased over the years and The Window Man now has thousands of satisfied customers in Central Ohio.
As the business grew they welcomed new employees to the Window Man family. "In 1986 we joined by Steve Fitzpatrick, who soon became a certified installer. During the same year, a young apprentice named Howard Crane came on board," said Keith.
As the years went by, The Window Man expanded its services. They still specialize in quality doors and windows and have also added insulated siding, patio doows, patio rooms, roofing, gutters, decks and awnings. They carry products by Sunrise, Soft Lite, Crane Siding, Flo-Free leaf guard, TimberTech decks, Sunsetter Awnings, Provia doors, and Patio Factory enclosurers. Financing is available and some offer 12 months same as cash.
"Our products are all Ohio based companies, you're not going to get that in a 'big box' store," noted Steve. Amazing technical advances have allowed new windows to offer dramatic energy savings, with some manufacturers guaranteeing in writing that customers will see a 35% savings. "We work with every budget and can do one window or the entire house," said Steve. "We focus on what our customer wants and we fill that want. We listen to our customers and take it from there."
In 1990, the Derryberry's built a new warehouse and showroom at 721 Union Street to show off their growing line of products. "Our customers really appreciate the opportunity to see the latest advances in products displayed in a clean and welcoming environment. We want our customers to be well informed before they make their important remodeling decision," Diane said. Breanda added that everyone is welcome to stop in the showroom and take a look at the products. The Window Man also offers free estimates.
The most important element of The Window Man's success has been the people. "I can't imagine a nicer community to work in than ours," said Keith and Diane. "Our customers also feel like family to us on multiple projects over mulriple years." keith and Diane also wish to thank their "wonderful employees" for their contributions over the years. "We couldn't have done it without them," they said.
After 30 years in the business, the Derryberry's have decided to thake it easy. "We knew we wanted the business to continue with the same dedication to doing things right, which we all took such pride in. We quickly decided that the best new leader for the company was Steve Fitzpatrick, our 25 year employee who has been such an important part of our success," explained Keith.
"Steve is the most knowledgeable person I know in the remodeling realm. He worked for 25 years installing our many products and also has participated in workshops and seminrs to keep up on all the latest techniques with his associate, Howard Crane, now the installation foreman," Keith said. "I've never seen anybody listen to the customer's needs better than Steve. He really tries to accommodate each customer individually and give personal service. We know our loyal customers will be in good hands."
On January 1, 2009, Steve and his wife, Brenda, took over the reins at The Window Man. They have been busy settling into their new roles as owners and are continuing the same high level of service and quality products The Windo Man has been known for since the beginning.
"We provide a higher quality product than most of your 'big box' stores stock, and being locally owned you are keeping money in your own community," said Steve. "Our installers are all factory craftsman in their field, not just average subcontractors. We provide one-on-one customer service and if you call in, you talk to the owners."
